Who is Owlchemy?

Owlchemy Labs is a creative studio that was found in 2010 in Austin, Texas, and they have a passion for precise and unique VR games and experiences. They believe that virtual reality arcades are best interacted with by using your hands in ways that feel the most natural and realistic. They love building experiences that are full of style and humour! They are best known for their critically acclaimed games such as “Job Stimulator” and, more recently, “Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality.”

What does this mean?

Google and Owlchemy Labs both hold high standards for the content and products they create. Google invests their time in creating high quality and interactive reality experiences such as YouTube, Street View, Google Earth VR, and many more! They love to work with, partner, and support developers and creators outside of Google and help them bring their ideas to VR. Similarly, Owlchemy Labs has the same drive. They care about creating quality multi-platform games that are engaging and creative for virtual reality arcades. With these two powerhouses joining together, building high quality content for platforms like the HC Vive, Oculus Touch, and PlayStation will continue to become more interactive, as well as creating more high quality user experiences. Both companies have expressed that they “share an incredible overlap in vision” and are excited to see what content they can create to better refine and define virtual reality.

Messages from the Companies

As you know, the VRPlayin team is excited about this development, as we will also be able to improve our virtual reality arcade to bring more raw, unique, and life-like games to our fans. However, it’s not just us that seems to be excited. Both Google and Owlchemy share in the excitement as they had these thoughts to say:

“We both believe that VR is the most accessible computing platform and that there’s a ton of work to be done, especially with regards to natural and intuitive interactions”
- Owlchemy
“Together with Google, with which we share an incredible overlap in vision, we’re free to pursue raw creation and sprint toward interesting problems in these early days of VR.”
- Owlchemy
“Today, we’re thrilled to welcome Owlchemy Labs to Google. They’ve created award-winning games like Job Simulator and Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality which have really thoughtful interactive experiences that are responsive, intuitive and feel natural. They’ve helped set a high bar for what engagement can be like in virtual worlds, and do it all with a great sense of humor!”
- Google
“Together, we'll be working to create engaging, immersive games and developing new interaction models across many different platforms to continue bringing the best VR experiences to life.”
- Google

It appears that the future of VR is brighter than ever as two amazing companies team up to explore and discover new innovative ways that will bring more enjoyment to VR. The team here at VRPlayin will be sure to use these to bring more of an exciting experience here at our facility!
